3 Day Itinerary in Waco
While Waco is home to Baylor University, it has become a popular tourist destination since the launch of the HGTV series Fixer Upper. The TV show features Waco area home renovations by Chip & Joanna Gaines, who also own the Magnolia Market. We took a road trip to visit the city. This post gives our 3 day itinerary, highlighting many tourist sites.

Arrival Day: We arrived to “The Haven“, which was the adorable VRBO we were staying at. After settling in, we went to dinner at Vitek’s BBQ. This local place is home to the Gut-pak, and known for it’s delicious brisket.
Day 1
Our Breakfast Place is a locally owned Waco restaurant. We enjoyed breakfast here on our first full day in town. Afterwards, we went to Harp Design Company to browse through their selection of home goods. Then we made our way to The Findery, which holds a wide variety of home decor, furniture, and boutique-style clothing. Later in the day, we dined at Twisted Root Burger Company. Afterwards, we stopped in George’s to watch a game and enjoy a beverage.
Day 2
Common Grounds was a coffee shop featured on one of Fixer Upper episodes. We stopped in for coffee and baked goods to enjoy on their cute outdoor patio area. Next up was shopping in the Spice Village market. Spice Village has a collection of shops all inside one large building. Then we spent time learning about the invention of Dr. Pepper and the history of the soft drink industry inside the Dr. Pepper Museum. Did you know that Dr. Pepper was invented in the Old Corner Drug Store in Waco?
Near downtown Waco is the the historic Waco Suspension Bridge, which crosses the Brazos River. We had a nice late afternoon walk across the pedestrian bridge. Afterwards, we enjoyed pizza at Southern Roots Brewing Company.
Day 3
On our final day in Waco, we had breakfast at the Magnolia Table. We arrived early to avoid a long wait and were seated within 5 minutes of our check-in. Magnolia Table’s food and service was magnificent!
Next on our agenda was the famous Magnolia Market and Silos Baking Co. Since Silos Baking Co. is on the corner of the property by Magnolia Market, we stopped in there first to purchase some cupcakes to-go. Then, we had the remainder of our time to spend inside Magnolia. Although it was crowded, we were able to shop and make our purchases in less than an hour. Afterwards, we bought tea from the Alabama Sweet Tea Company food truck and sat out in the lawn area.
In the afternoon, we drove to the Little Shop on Bosque to browse around. This was the original Magnolia location, but has since been turned into a store with “last chance” and discounted items.
Next we drove to the Homestead Heritage, where we dined at the Cafe Homestead. We enjoyed a nice meal then ventured through the craft village and shops on the heritage.
Waco is a charming town filled with history and character. We had a wonderful time exploring this city!
