Dining and More in Dallas/Fort Worth
Since we live only 4 hours away from the Dallas Fort Worth metropolis, we have visited the area multiple times. Recently, we stayed in Frisco and played a round of golf at the Cowboys Golf Club in nearby Grapevine, Texas.

Previously, we attended a concert at Globe Life Field, which is the home of the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball team.

We’ve also attended a Texas Rangers baseball game at the field.

And as we’ve traveled to Fredericksburg, Waco, and Houston we’ve passed through the DFW area. We’ve compiled a short list of our favorite places to dine. Most of these offer dog-friendly patio seating!

Cane Rosso has wood-fired pizza and a fenced in dog friendly patio at their Lakewood location. It’s right near a shopping center area but there is plenty of parking.

For breakfast/brunch, we thoroughly enjoyed Bread Winner’s Cafe & Bakery. We started with some drinks and fresh-baked bread on their lovely little patio. There are two locations in the Dallas metropolis.

Taverna Rossa is located in Plano. It’s a great place to enjoy pizza and a beer in the evening! It gets busy though, so be prepared for a wait.

On another sunny weekend, we visited Whistle Britches for a savory brunch on their outdoor patio area. I thought the Whistle Britches bloody mary’s along with the Chicken Benny were outstanding!

And prior to golf, we dined in the Cowboys Golf Club for brunch. A meal before and after your round is included with your tee time ticket.

We’ve also been to Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas for a concert festival. Prior to enjoying the festivities, we had brunch at Mash’d. It gets very busy so get there early! We sat at the bar and enjoyed bloody mary’s along with a delicious brunch.

On our recent trip to Fort Worth, we had brunch on the patio at Woodshed Smokehouse. It’s a great option for furry-friends too because they have a “pup menu” and a large patio with some covered seating. And, I especially loved the food – the cheddar biscuits with brisket gravy was soooo good!

Another afternoon late lunch stop in Fort Worth was at Lucile’s Stateside Bistro. They are known for their lobster and seafood dishes. We enjoyed dining al fresco on their quaint little outdoor patio area. To start, we had lobster bites. Then, we ordered the bacon cheeseburger and the reuben. Both were excellent!

Downtown McKinney is filled with shops and dining. We have visited multiple places in this historic area.

We enjoyed an afternoon on the dog-friendly back patio at The Yard. It’s got a large area with picnic tables along with regular tables, and our pups loved lounging around on the grassy turf.

And, for great food and service – be sure to try Hugs Cafe in downtown McKinney. We not only enjoyed breakfast on one of their front tables outside, but we also enjoyed some of their amazing cookies!

Continuing on in downtown McKinney, we found Lockwood Distilling. It’s a nice, relaxed spot to grab a cocktail or make a purchase.

The Star District is another popular shopping and dining area in Frisco. Along with several hotels, there’s a large parking garage and many areas to park here. The football field seen below is an event area, where movie nights, yoga, and other family-friendly events take place.

In downtown Dallas, we visited the Sixth Floor Museum. Located in the former Texas School Book Depository building, the museum show cases the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy.

Also in downtown Dallas is the Reunion Tower, with an observatory experience 470 feet up.

The Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park is a living history museum of what Dallas was like in the 19th-century. Visitors can take a self-led or a guided tour.

There is also a wonderful wine tasting room in Dallas. We purchased a flight of wine along with a bottle to take back home. Highly recommend a visit to Times Ten Cellars if you’re a wine enthusiast.

You can’t come through the great state of Texas without a stop at Buc-ees. We always find some great snacks and gifts in their large store. And, they have the best green space for dogs (even little waste bags in dispensers). Our pups always like walking around their well-kept grass area. Then we fill-up the gas tank and head back home!

If you’re looking for a place to stay, there are plenty of hotels in the DFW metroplex. We opt for VRBO since we have our pups, but there are so many options in this big city!
