Full Day Itinerary in Houston
Morning
To start the day, we arrived for a late morning breakfast at Snooze, an A.M. Eatery in Houston. There are several locations to choose from. We found a location not too far from our VRBO. Although it was a weekend, we were able to snag seats at the bar. Their bloody mary was the perfect drink to kick start our busy day of events!
Afternoon
We then drove to Minute Maid Park to watch the daytime Houston Astros Baseball game. This is one of my favorite stadiums because of the way it’s designed. One of the most unique features of this stadium is the train moving across the track when the Astros score! Also, even when the retractable roof is closed there is a good amount of light that comes into the stadium. And the food and drink options are plentiful at Minute Maid Park. We’ll have to return to see a nighttime game (and maybe the roof will be open)!
Evening
To continue our time in Houston, we dined at Riva’s Italian Restaurant for dinner. I started with an Italian margarita while my husband chose their spin on an old fashioned. Then, we ordered our meals. Each entree comes with soup, salad, and delicious garlic bread. You will definitely not leave hungry!
More recently we had a layover in Houston so we ventured over to Ninfa’s on Navigation for some traditional Mexican fare. The establishment began with Mama Ninfa in 1973. She created tacos al carbon, which of course I had to try! I had one traditional beef fajita and one chicken – and boy are they delicious! My husband had the fajita burger. Yum! No wonder this historic place was featured on Food Network. It’s going to be a return visit for sure!
To end our night, we had purchased tickets in advance for the Dwight Yoakam concert at at Arena Theater. This unique theater features a round stage in the middle that spins slowly as the live concert/performance is happening. So there’s really not a bad seat in the entire place!
the following morning
To conclude our time in Houston, we stopped to have breakfast on the dog-friendly patio at Common Bond Bistro & Bakery before we started our drive back home. The bistro is a walk-up and order style so after ordering you get a number to place on your table. Then when your order is ready, your food is delivered right to you. And, if you’re like us, you will want to get some yummy baked goods to take along!
