Amazing All-Inclusive Vacation in Antigua
Sandals Grande Antigua is an all-inclusive resort on the Northwestern coast of the island of Antigua in Dickenson Bay. It is the premier beach of the island because of the warm, white sand and calm, shallow water. It is also a popular area because it is only about 15 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport. And there are a variety of activities and water sports in Dickenson Bay. Since it is a free beach, local vendors will be set-up throughout. In fact, we enjoyed massages by one of the beach vendors a short ways from the resort. We were also able to get aloe from vendor who had leaves from an aloe plant. (The aloe sure helped our sun-kissed skin!)
Beach
We had a week-long stay at the Sandals in Antigua. Most days we could be found lounging on the resorts beach-side, where we soaked up the sun and waded in the clear blue waters of the ocean. There were a few days where we lounged poolside, enjoying drinks from the swim-up bar. Even at the large pool, we could still admire the pristine beach area just off the pool deck. And later one afternoon while we were at the pool, the resort had set up tables with coconuts. Then, staff members began making guests drinks in the coconuts. We sipped on our delicious coconut drinks while visiting with our friends and other guests at the resort. It sure was a nice way to end a day of fun in the sun!
360 Power Cruise Excursion
During one of the days in Antigua, we had an excursion for a 360 cruise on a catamaran. On this tour, we were able to see coastlines around the entire island. Some fascinating sights we passed were: Devil’s Bridge and Bird Island. The boat also stopped at a beach so we could snorkel near a reef as well as relax in the calm waters. We enjoyed drinks and a delightful lunch during our stop. We saw the amazing white-sand beaches along the west coast, and passed by mansions owned by the rich and famous. It was neat to get a glimpse into the rich history of Antigua and view the many bays from afar.
Resort
The resort has a Caribbean side and a Mediterranean side. Our room was the Sunset Bluff Luxury Poolside Walkout Club Level room on the Caribbean side of the resort. When we arrived to the resort, we were greeted by a Sandals loyalty representative. She was a gem! Each day she would find us somewhere on the property, and check in to see how our stay was going. The hospitality here was second to none! Out of all of our Sandals stays, Antigua tops the list. From food to service, along with atmosphere and entertainment – Antigua was phenomenal!
