How to Spend a Day at Surfside Beach, Texas

For a family-friendly spot to spend a day enjoying the sun, head to Surfside Beach, Texas. On our day trip to Surfside, we were able to park right behind some businesses along the beach front late morning. After unloading our beach gear, we settled into a spot on the beach. Later on we walked along the shore, dipping our toes in the water. Along the way, we collected a few seashells then spent the rest of the morning lounging in the sun. (Tip: Take a beach mat with you! They were perfect for sitting on beach, and not having to worry about sand collecting in them like beach towels. Additionally, the mat provided a thick cushion to lounge on and was easy to roll-up and pack.)

Beachfront Deck Bar & Grill

For a laid-back lunch option, we walked right over to the Beachfront Deck Bar and Grill. We found a picnic table on their large deck, overlooking the ocean. We ordered appetizers, which consisted of chips and queso, onion rings, and Boudin balls. While enjoying our food, we soaked up more sunshine and watched the waves roll in.

Galveston Island Brewing

After a day spent at the beach, we took the highway along the beachfront, passing through Jamaica Beach before we arrived into Galveston. Neither of us had been to Galveston since our childhood years. It was neat to pass through some of the touristy areas. After driving around the city, we stopped for a beverage to enjoy on the patio at Galveston Island Brewing. What’s neat about this brewery is that they also make their own in-house Root Beer. And, you can purchase a 6-pack of some of the beers they brew. Of course we had to purchase some to take back home!
